Year Four, Day 273: Pandemic Times, Day 22 - "Stay Home, Stay Safe", Day 10: "Corona!"

Psalm 65 New King James Version (NKJV)

Praise to God for His Salvation and Providence

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. A Song.

65 Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;
And to You the [a]vow shall be performed.
O You who hear prayer,
To You all flesh will come.
Iniquities prevail against me;
As for our transgressions,
You will provide atonement for them.
Blessed is the man You choose,
And cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Of Your holy temple.
By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation,
You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
And of the far-off seas;
Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;
You who still the noise of the seas,
The noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs;
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening [b]rejoice.
You [c]visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
10 You water its ridges abundantly,
You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers,
You bless its growth.
11 You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.
12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

Thursday, 4/02/2020.

I spent a lot of time in bed today. I was tired and achy. My heart felt heavy. I told my daughter I was going to lay low. She looked at me and arched an eyebrow.
"Corona!" She exclaimed.

It's our new thing in the household. If anyone sneezes or coughs, we yell, "Corona!"

It reminds me of that song, "Tequila!"

I seriously doubt that I have the virus. My hay fever allergies have flared up. I am tired and a little wheezy. I am a little congested and my eyes itch. But no fever. No cough.

Just to be safe, I went to the CDC "Corona virus Self Checker site: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/index.html#cdc-chat-bot-open

I took a brief survey and was told to get rest, drink fluids, self isolate and call my doctor if I developed a fever or cough.

So I rested. Drank tea.

I feel a little bit better now. I am going to cut back on Diet Coke, popcorn and stress. I'm not sure which one is going to be the most difficult to give up.

I managed to go for my walk before it started to rain.

Then I taught a student online, and practiced a bit. I am working on some uplifting pieces to teach my ststudents via YouTube tutorials.

I applied for unemployment while I watched the news. The State of
 Washington is staying home for at least another month.

I am starting to understand what it must feel like to be in prison. But luckily I have my own space. I don't think I'd survive prison.

I miss visits with my son. I haven't heard from him yet today. But I know he is keeping up with the news. Today it was reported that an employee from the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem tested positive for the virus. There has been talk of releasing some prisoners so that practicing social distancing will be more feasible. I hope my son isn't getting his hopes up. He will be over halfway through his sentence when this pandemic begins to decline. Oregon and Washington officials are pleased that our social distancing seems to be flattening the curve.

There is also still talk of requiring face masks.

And I was right about the global cases exceeding 1 million globally today. I am not enjoying being right about this.

Total Confirmed Cases: 1,022,370

Total Deceased: 53,427

Now I am going to try and get some real sleep.

I'm hoping my energy returns tomorrow.

Be well.

Love,

Zita

Year Three, Day 58: Marilyn Monroe's Measurements

Day 24 of daily hooping. I am determined to shrink these abs, if it is the last thing I do! Perhaps I should have that written on my tombstone: "Here lies Zita". Flat abs at last!! Well I certainly hope to attain my flat abs goal BEFORE I am dead and gone! Today's video was another rush job. But I downloaded some fun tunes to my Kindle last night.  I enjoyed my hoop session more listening to the Punjabi music. It reminded me of the "Maritime Bhangra Dancers".  If you haven't heard of them, you should look them up. They never fail to put a smile on my face! I am not smiling so much looking at this video. My hooping skills have improved a bit, but that menopot has got to go! After my hoop session, I walked 3/4 mile to the bus stop. I was planning on attending the 10:00 a.m. Mass at the Grotto, but it was cutting it close. Plus, I was feeling the need for a Starbucks iced tea.  Today was Iced Passionfruit/Black Tea, no sugar whatsoever.   The ic...

Year Two, Day 274: I Like Me. RIP Packy!

Today's fruit of the spirit that I am focusing on is patience.  This I need more of. And coincidentally (or not), I read in my book Challenge: A Daily Meditation Program Based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius by Mark Link, S.J. the following: "I asked God to give me happiness, and God said, 'No.' He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation. It isn't granted, it is earned." Well, not to sound smug, but I am certainly earning my patience award!  :) I am having a good day, however I am a bit over caffeinated. I earned (patiently lol) a free latte today at Starbucks.  On a side note, I love being a regular customer. I walked into my regular Starbucks today, and one of the barista's yelled, "Zita!" from across the room. I felt like I was in an episode of "Cheers"! I love being recognized in a friendly manner. I had a venti "Smoked Butterscotch Latte with soy".   I have found the per...

Year Two, Day 201: "I"

Before my first meeting with "I" I had a wonderful first date last night! We had a lot on common. The conversation flowed easily. We laughed. It was so lovely, that I think I shall not blog about him. Not yet anyway. I am just going to call him "I". I like I. 😉 Today was a long, wonderful family day. Went to church with my daughter and son-in-law. Very powerful, uplifting service. After that we went to the horse races. Had a blast. Broke even. Essentially had a free lunch and four hours of entertainment. After the horses, we had yet another Thanksgiving dinner at my niece's place. It was her first turkey. It was amazing! But thank God I had enough willpower to resist the pie! Tomorrow I go for my first physical therapy appointment. Tuesday it is back to the gym!! Happy Sunday!
