Year Three, Day 98: A Steam Engine Am I!

I greeted the sun this morning. 6:30 a.m. hooping! I owe it to my former landlord. He texted me at 5:30 a.m.

A letter was delivered to my former address. He told me if I was awake, he could bring it over. He doesn't live far from my current abode. I decided it would be good to rise early. The letter he was delivering contained a check.

I will get vertical for money.

Plus, it was a bit like a spy movie to grab my hoop and walk out to the road, just as he pulled up in his brand new, shiny Camaro convertible. I didn't know they made Camaros anymore. All the cool guys in high school drive Camaros. We chatted a bit. He handed me my envelope and then I strolled over to the track to greet the sun.

This proves you can get older and better. Me, exercising at sunrise!! Who would have guessed?!

August 17, 2014

The pictures above prove that exercise and healthy eating eventually make a dent. First picture was taken August 17, 2017. Picture below is August 16, 2014. In case I lose my steam, I can refer to these before and after pics.

Hopefully I won't lose my steam. A steam engine am I!!

Year Three, Day 58: Marilyn Monroe's Measurements

Day 24 of daily hooping. I am determined to shrink these abs, if it is the last thing I do! Perhaps I should have that written on my tombstone: "Here lies Zita". Flat abs at last!! Well I certainly hope to attain my flat abs goal BEFORE I am dead and gone! Today's video was another rush job. But I downloaded some fun tunes to my Kindle last night.  I enjoyed my hoop session more listening to the Punjabi music. It reminded me of the "Maritime Bhangra Dancers".  If you haven't heard of them, you should look them up. They never fail to put a smile on my face! I am not smiling so much looking at this video. My hooping skills have improved a bit, but that menopot has got to go! After my hoop session, I walked 3/4 mile to the bus stop. I was planning on attending the 10:00 a.m. Mass at the Grotto, but it was cutting it close. Plus, I was feeling the need for a Starbucks iced tea.  Today was Iced Passionfruit/Black Tea, no sugar whatsoever.   The ic...

Year Two, Day 274: I Like Me. RIP Packy!

Today's fruit of the spirit that I am focusing on is patience.  This I need more of. And coincidentally (or not), I read in my book Challenge: A Daily Meditation Program Based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius by Mark Link, S.J. the following: "I asked God to give me happiness, and God said, 'No.' He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation. It isn't granted, it is earned." Well, not to sound smug, but I am certainly earning my patience award!  :) I am having a good day, however I am a bit over caffeinated. I earned (patiently lol) a free latte today at Starbucks.  On a side note, I love being a regular customer. I walked into my regular Starbucks today, and one of the barista's yelled, "Zita!" from across the room. I felt like I was in an episode of "Cheers"! I love being recognized in a friendly manner. I had a venti "Smoked Butterscotch Latte with soy".   I have found the per...

Day 141: The Complete Interior Makeover

A rainy Portland morning in the SE Hawthorne neighborhood. Photo by Zita :)   Yesterday was a low day for me.  Low spirits. Low energy.  I am feeling better today.  Had much food for thought! And much sleeping in! I hung out with my daughter after I got home from rehearsal last night. We watched an episode of Outlander. I bought the entire First Season. I am so hooked!  Not to give the plot away, but the main character is a nurse during World War II. She and her husband are celebrating after the end of the war in Scotland in 1945. She is suddenly (I won't tell you how!) whisked back into time into the 1700's and becomes entangled with a Scottish clan. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3006802/ I watched the whole season last year when I was dog-sitting for a piano student's family. They live near Movie Madness (on SE Belmont). A lovely couple recommended the series when I was there poking around. I'm so excited to get my daughter in on my addiction....
