I hit the ground running today, literally! No time to blog until just now before bedtime.
I did a short 1 mile round trip jog/walk. Unfortunately, I did not wake up early as planned. Still dealing with a lot of aches, pains and stiffness, especially in the morning.
But I noticed today that my energy was pretty balanced. I ate healthy all day. Didn't feel as tense and impatient as I have been feeling lately.
I am a little worried about the hot weather this weekend. On Saturdays I teach piano all day in a church. It is an older building and it is usually stuffy. I think I will bring along a little fan.
Sunday is the 60th anniversary of the Community Music Center where I teach piano. I have six of my piano students playing solos from 1 to 6, and then I will meet with the Francis Street Singers, the choir I accompany. We'll warm up at 6 p.m. and then sing at 7:00 p.m. Will be a long, hot day. But I am looking forward to it.
This is the end of spring term. After this concert, I have a pretty light week, just teaching private students. Next weekend my piano students play in my end of the year recital. I really enjoy recitals now that I am a teacher!
I am looking forward to a little downtime, so that I can work a little harder on my running.
I also have a piano blues camp for kids to plan and an end of summer concert to practice for.
But hey - 25 days! This is something to be proud of!
I will weigh in and take measurements Monday.
I learned something from my son today. I made baked chicken, potatoes, carrots and turnips for dinner. Plus I sauteed some Swiss chard and mushrooms. I enjoy cooking. I read a lot of recipes. I especially like making sauces. But he asked me to make his dinner without any seasonings. Just a little bit of pepper. I felt paralyzed for a moment. No seasonings? He said he just wanted to taste the food (my 22 year-old son has gotten rather obsessed with healthy eating - not that I'm complaining!). So I backed chicken thighs with a bit of freshly ground pepper. I put a touch of salt on my half of the chicken. After baking for about 20 minutes, I poured a bit of the fat on top of some sliced red potatoes, carrots and turnips. Then I broiled the chicken to make it crispy. The Swiss chard and mushrooms were sauteed in olive oil with a few cloves of garlic and green onions.
MAN was this good!!! Andrew is right, I do tend to overdo everything (kind of applies to my whole life!) Everything was very flavorful. Just think of all the time and money I will save if I continue to cook and eat this way?!
OK. Must practice a bit and then hit the hay.
