Year Four, Day 318: Pandemic Times Day 67, "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 54: A European Starling and Memories of a Volcano

Hi Friends! I identified my first bird today! I am so excited! My birdwatching binoculars came in the mail today, so when it was time to do my vlogging in the park, I put them around my neck and brought a little notebook with me to record my findings! Alas, the wind picked up while I was vlogging, and it suddenly got quite chilly, so I cut it short and started to head home. Then I heard some chirping!  I looked up in the trees with my binoculars, but didn't see anything. I spied a flock  of crows in the middle of the baseball field, but crows are so common, I didn't think they were worth recording. Wow! Most prejudice of me! I read somewhere that crows are highly intelligent. And emotional. And can carry a grudge against specific people. I don't blame them, with people like me calling them COMMON! Next time I go to the park, I will apologize to the crows. But what caught my eye, was a small bird at the foot of a tree ahead of me. He was pec...

Year Four, Day 317: Pandemic Times Day 66, "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 53: Phase 2

Note: I love blogging! It keeps me sane. I've been sharing my life with my readers for nearly 5 years now. And during these pandemic times, I've been giving video updates everyday. I hope to someday turn my writing into a book of some sort, but for now, my blogging is fairly raw and transparent.  If you have enjoyed reading this blog, please show me some support by clicking on the button and buying me a cup of coffee! And please feel free to share this blog! :)  Hello Friends!  We are in Phase 1 of reopening here in Washington. Governor Jay Inslee said that Phase 2 is scheduled to begin 6/0/2020 in Washington state, but this is subject to change.  Here is an article about Phase 2: Phase 2 - Washington In the meantime, he advises people to stay home unless you have an essential job, or essential activities, like grocery shopping, exercise, dog walking, medical appointments and caring for others. With proper social distancing, masks in public plac...

If you have enjoyed reading this blog, please show me some support by clicking on the button and buying me a cup of coffee! And please feel free to share this blog! :) Good Evening Friends! It's crazy weather outside! I got caught in a horrendous downpour at the end of my pandemic video today. As I type this, water is dripping from my hair. But... 50 days!  Here in Washington, most of us have stayed home for 50 days! I have been giving updates on my YouTube channel every day for this time.  I mostly have only left the house in the morning, to walk the dog in the park, and in the afternoon to do my pandemic video. I have made a few trips to the grocery store, and a couple of visits to my paren...

Year Four, Day 313: Pandemic Times Day 62, "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 49: Today I Hooped

Hello Friends! Today I am tired. I will probably just do my pandemic video in the park again like I did yesterday. I have a new personal commitment - Two exercise sessions each day - One brisk walk in the morning with the dog (1/2 - 1 mile) and one Qi Gong/weighted hula hoop session or a longer walk in the afternoon. Today I hooped. I also made zucchini fritters. They were delicious! Especially with feta cheese and a bit of cheese. They were a bit time consuming . I had to shred the zucchini and then let them drain in a colander before adding egg, almond flour and seasonings.  I used the following recipe. I added parmesan cheese, and used almond flour and flax meal instead of a gluten free flour blend,  but otherwise adhered to the recipe:  https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/gluten-free-zucchini-fritters/ And now for covid-19 updates.  I saw an inspirational video by Matthew McConaughey urging us to unite against this enemy virus. I mentioned it on ...

Year Four, Day 312, Pandemic Times Day 61: "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 48: Za'atar Man'ouche! And My Magic, Miracle Fasting Broth Drink!

Good Evening Friends! Thank you for reading my blog and for all your positive support! If you want to show me some love, click the button above and buy me a cup of coffee - or tea! So, the big news here in my little word?  I made a batch of keto pita bread and topped it with Za'atar. Ouila! Man'ouche! I have been in love with Middle Eastern food since I was in college. I had a friend who was of Lebanese descent. We had lunch downtown at Abu Karim. And I was hooked! Za'atar is one of my absolute favorite spices. And lately I have not been able to find it. Especially since my essential grocery store outings have been limited to Wal-Mart. So I ordered a jar online.  OMGoodness, I could eat it with a spoon! And, if you must know, my homemade zhug was so good yesterday, that I caught my daughter eating it with a spoon! We are mostly gluten free in our household, and trying to limit carbs, so I tried this recipe for "Keto Lob Carb Flatbread...
