Year Four, Day 315: Pandemic Times Day 64, "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 51: Phase 1

Note: I love blogging! It keeps me sane. I've been sharing my life with my readers for nearly 5 years now. And during these pandemic times, I've been giving video updates everyday. I hope to someday turn my writing into a book of some sort, but for now, my blogging is fairly raw and transparent.  If you have enjoyed reading this blog, please show me some support by clicking on the button and buying me a cup of coffee! And please feel free to share this blog! :)

Good Evening, Friends!

Good News!

Oregon is opening up tomorrow in "Phase 1"

Well, most of Oregon, that is. Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county have not applied, because they are not yet prepared.

Washington is in Phase 1 as of May 5th. "Washingtonians should continue to stay home and practice social distancing. Governor Jay Inslee said each phase is expected to last about three weeks. However, if trends tick upwards or health officials believe it is unsafe, the state will not progress to the next phase." Here is the article that goes into detail about the different phases and what is open:

As for the ol' rona virus, I didn't quote the stats as I usually do for the coronavirus on my video today, so here they are:

Global:  4,521,174 cases; 303,070 deaths
US:        1,456,745 cases;  86,900  deaths
WA:            18,660 cases;       993 deaths
OR:               3,479 cases;       137 deaths

I get my stats daily for Avi Shiffmann's site. Avi is an awesome young fella. A teenager  (on 17 years old!) who has a brilliant future with that mind of his. And he lives here in the Pacific Northwest!  He lives in Mercer Island, just outside of Seattle. I buy him coffee now and then to show my gratitude for this amazing site. You  too can buy him a cup of coffee to show your appreciation for his hard work keeping us informed. Just go to his site. His stats are updated every few minutes!

Speaking of teenagers, here is the article about the teenage girl in a hospital in Portland, recovering from the pediatric syndrome related to Covid-19 that I mentioned yesterday: https://abcnews.go.com/Health/14-year-recovering-icu-coronavirus-related-illness/story?id=70667463

And on the subject of contact tracing and testing, there is a rumor flying about that the bill "HR 6666 (good grief, give it another number!), requires mandatory vaccinations for covid-19. This was proven false. It pertains to contact tracing and testing apparently.

As for what I cooked today, I made spinach, potato fritters in my Dash mini grill. They were yummy! Especially dipped in my famous Zhug! (Famous in our household, that is. I may have to hide this Middle Eastern hot sauce from my daughter. I caught her eating it with a spoon!)

Potato/spinach/cheese fritters.  (Zhug not shown - daughter eats it all when she sees it!) :)

On that note, I wish you all a safe, healthy, happy Thursday!

I will talk to you tomorrow!
Love,

Zita

Psalm 103 (v. 1-16)

King James Version (KJV)

103 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

Year Four, Day 328: Success at Last!! This is What I Do

Hello My Long Lost Friends! Or, perhaps it was I who was lost? And now I think I am beginning to find myself!  Under layers of fat, and self loathing!  How's that for an opening line!  Or perhaps the title of a novel:  Layers of Fat and Self-Loathing! Today I stepped on the scale.  I am weighing myself every morning these days. I was shocked! I told my partner the scale must be broken!  Yesterday I weight 186. Today 185! I have been on a strict intermittent fast for the past 10 weeks. I have officially lost 12 pounds!  And the best news is I think I not only can stick to this way of eating, I am actually beginning to really enjoy it!  And look how far I've come! I've been writing since May 12, 2015.  Over 8 years now!  I know this blog post says Year Four, Day 328, but there have been many pauses in blogging. For instance, when I am not pleased with progress or simply have no words! I was 53 when I first began blogging. I am now 61. I honestly feel better than I did 8 years

Year Four, Day 335: "Crisis Fatigue"

Hello Friends! I have missed you! I have been so utterly exhausted and downright depressed, that I couldn't summon enough energy to even lift my fingers to this computer keyboard to write.  Apparently there is a mental disorder for people going through crises.  Crises such as pandemics, systemic racism, political division, unemployment, police brutality, civil unrest.... It's called "crisis fatigue". When humans are presented with a threat, adrenaline is released to give us quick energy. This is called the "fight or flight syndrome". But when threats are overwhelming, and perceivably continuous, like this year, it overwhelms the system. People can feel numb, depressed, anxious and irritable. Yup. That's me.  I guess I'm quite normal after all! I found an interesting article that describes crisis fatigue, especially in relation to current events.  But it doesn't really address how to take care of ourselves during these unsettling times!

Year Two, Day 248: I G T J!

I got the job! I had such a good feeling when I went into the interview. Lovely little church, really cool pastor (She preaches without her shoes! My type of woman!) I'll be the church secretary. It is very part time. But it will give me a little financial stability so I can breathe a bit! I will have to alter my morning routine. Eh hem, read that as WAKE UP EARLIER! Which I have been attempting to do since I have been writing this blog. Ok. Since I have been alive! Not a morning person, am I!  :) I am so happy. Because yesterday morning, there were so many hurdles getting to the interview, that I said, "God, I'd better get this job after all I am going through!" And He answered my prayer. Thank You, God. You are so good! But about those hurdles... First, I found out a MAX train had derailed early in the morning, which caused delays system wide.  That put a cramp in my commute, since the shortest trip to the church was to hop on Max to the mall and
