Year Three, Day 297: Don't Think About It - Just Eat!

I am starting to feel gluten brain fog. And a bit of gluten blues. I wasn't too aware until my daughter called my attention to it. The Schnood and I had a wonderful visit this morning while her mom got some computer work done. The weather is simply glorious today! So my daughter and I decided upon IKEA for lunch and a walk afterwards. I had the salmon salad. I should have skipped the flatbread. But I didn't. Shortly after eating, my daughter looked up at me and said, "You're crashing." "I feel like laying down on the floor", I muttered. "I can always tell", she said with a knowing to be in her voice. And a trace of a smirk. We know each other too well. I explained to her I was in Words with Friends withdrawals. And I had been seeking comfort. Of the edible kind. I asked her how her weight loss was going. She said she was down a few pounds. But could still stand to lose 10 more. I sighed. "I'm up a few pounds. Coul...

Year Three, Day 296: Clearing My Cache

Today I learned how to clean my phone's cache.  I am determined to figure out this cell phone! It keeps giving me messages that I am out of storage.  Even after uninstalling my beloved "Words with Friends" and sending most of my photos to Google photos. Most all of which are pictures of the Schnood. The only apps I have on my phone now are Starbucks, Facebook Messenger and TriMet Hop. Yet still it says I am dangerously out of storage! Arrrggg! I read up a bit on how to increase storage with my particular phone.  One recommendation is clearing the cache. I did that. It helped a tad bit. I must admit, part of my frustration is that I really miss playing Words with Friends. I was considering installing it to play a few games on my bus rides and then uninstalling it again. I'm honestly glad my phone has storage issues. Because that would be beyond madness! I actually am starting to come back down to earth. I did much laundry today, hooped, practiced th...

Year Three, Day 295: That Deep, Aching Emptiness

I did it! I achieved my goal in Words With Friends, earned a hundred points, and promptly uninstalled the app from my cell phone! I felt victorious at first. Elated even! And, as an added bonus my cell phone is running much better! But then a feeling of panic set in. And an intense sadness came over me. I felt tears behind my eyes and a tightness in my chest. I recognized this feeling. It was similar to when I had finished binge watching a television series.  An emptiness inside. A feeling of finality. All day long I felt a little raw.  I think the game was like a drug for me.  Cushioning me from the realty of life. I know this sounds a bit overly dramatic, but it feels very real to me. It is almost like the feeling I got when a relationship was over. That deep, aching emptiness. Did my obsession with the game create this pain? Or was it covering up something that was there all along? I am just so thankful that I never developed an addiction to a harmf...

Year Three, Day 294: Escapism

"Escapism  is the avoidance of unpleasant, boring, arduous, scary, or banal aspects of  daily life .   It can also be used as a term to define the actions people take to help relieve persisting feelings of  depression  or general  sadness " .  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki I was pondering my presence in my daily life today. It seems I often am looking forward to "getting through" with whatever task I am involved with. Rather than being truly present and experiencing it. It is like I need to escape. But what is it I am trying to escape? My life?! God knows, none of us make it out of this mortal life alive! It became apparent to me that I was not dwelling in the present moment today as I sat next to one of my students. He is a teenager.. A good student. But I have wondered if he likes basketball much better than piano, and is taking lessons to please his parents. Well, it is obvious he likes basketball better than piano. But over the last few yea...

Year Three, Day 293: Silence

Just stopping by to wish you a happy evening. I'm too exhausted to blog tonight. Craving silence, solitude and sleep! Talk to you tomorrow! Love, Zita P.S. Here is today's hooping video. Day 252!

Year Three, Day 292: I Will Survive

Decompression session at Laughing Planet at the end of my day I had such a good, deep sleep last night. I woke up feeling rested and revived. Perhaps it was my decompression session last night at Laughing Planet.  A glass of hard apple cider, chips, salsa and guacamole, were just the friends I needed.  I am feeling remarkably calm, centered and balanced. The days are getting longer and warmer.  I woke up easily this morning.  Got my noodle soup going. Packed my mobile salad. Did my hooping session, cleaned up and headed out to catch the bus. I had a dentist appointment. Perhaps this feeling is the calm after the storm. I do not enjoy having my teeth cleaned. Those whirling, high pitched instruments they use send me through the ceiling. Like the sound of fingernails on a chalk board. AACK! I thought about stopping at Starbucks first. But decided against it.  I would have Starbucks be my reward.  No sense going into the dentist agitated on c...

Year Three, Day 291: My Mr. Magoo Day

My eyes popped open at the stroke of 5 this morning. I glanced at my cell phone. I had forgotten to set my alarm. Most alarming! I had promised my daughter that I would be at her trailer this morning by 8:30 to babysit the Schnood while she goes to a most important work meeting. Must not be late! 6:53 a.m. Clackamas Town Center Max Station. Sitting on the Max train. It departs in 8 min. What better time to blog? I am proud of myself. I did not go back to sleep. I got vertical and made my traveling salad, packed and caught the 6:40 a.m. bus. I even had some time to play a few rounds of Words with Friends. That wakes me up faster than a cup of coffee! Especially since I am finally winning most of my games! (With the exception of my son-in-law. I have only beat that rascal once!) Getting off the Max soon.  Talk later... Later: I made it to Vancouver exactly on time!  I feel a little foolish for having taking Lyft for so many months when Baby Gracie was first born...
