Year Four, Day 164: The Time is Now Once Again!

Today is my 28th day of Intermittent Fasting (IF). I'm easing off of hard core keto.  I am still trying to keep carbs low and focus on lean protein, veggies, nuts and seeds, but adding fruits and whole grains like oatmeal and brown rice. I am going to cut back a bit on dairy.

And TADA! The scale continues to move downward! I have officially lost 8 pounds!  YAY!

I am aiming for 18:6 IF. This translates to 18 hours of fasting with a 6 hour eating window. I am gravitating towards 19:5 and eventually 20:4.

I would like to do the OMAD (one meal a day), but not sure I am completely ready. Baby steps, I am telling myself. Even though I am a 57 year-old woman. Still learning so much about life after all these years!

I am noticing that I get really hungry in the evening, but in the morning, don't even think about food.

I will say that again: I DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT FOOD!

Who am I?

I have been obsessed with food my whole life. In fact, I will admit right here, right now that food has been my best friend.

No longer!

I am getting into a nice routine:

  • 7:30 Wake up. Drink Water
  • 7:40 Hoop Workout
  • 8:00 Clean Kitchen
  • 8:30 Make Breakfast for Granddaughter
  • 9:00 Feed Granddaughter. Drink much tea.
  • 9:30 Activities with Granddaughter
  • 10:00 Read Bible, Pray (I usually do this while she is watching "Word Party", but I am needing to do this earlier in the morning, before my granddaughter wakes up. Waking up early is always on my self-improvement list!)
  • 10:30 a.m. Start preparing Lunch
  • 11:20 a.m. First Meal (Today was a homemade cheeseburger, cucumber salad, broccoli, and a spinach salad.
  • 12:30 p.m. Leave for gym/library/teaching
  • 3:00 p.m. Second Meal
  • 4:20 p.m. Start Fasting. Drink oodles of water and iced tea.
  • Workout/Teach/Blog/Practice Piano
  • 8:00 p.m. Home. Hang out with Granddaughter.
  • 10:00 p.m. Bed

This is a nice schedule I can live with!  This current schedule is 19 hours of fasting with a 5 hour window.  If I get brave I will close the window a bit.

I got this!

My goal is to lose 50 pounds by my birthday, which is in January.  I'm tired of messing around. Time to get serious!

The time is now!

Oy. Most embarrasing flashback. That was the title of my first post on the blog. My first post ever. May 12, 2015. Over four years ago!

How about "The Time is Now Once Again!: :)
On that note, I need to head out and get one more meal in before Zma duties (I am called "Zma" at home instead of Grandma in order to avoid confusion with the other grandmas and great grandmas. I like it!)

Talk to you tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

Love,

Zita (aka Zma)

Do I look determined? I am!!

And here is today's Qi Gong/Hooping Video. Day 105!!

Year Three, Day 58: Marilyn Monroe's Measurements

Day 24 of daily hooping. I am determined to shrink these abs, if it is the last thing I do! Perhaps I should have that written on my tombstone: "Here lies Zita". Flat abs at last!! Well I certainly hope to attain my flat abs goal BEFORE I am dead and gone! Today's video was another rush job. But I downloaded some fun tunes to my Kindle last night.  I enjoyed my hoop session more listening to the Punjabi music. It reminded me of the "Maritime Bhangra Dancers".  If you haven't heard of them, you should look them up. They never fail to put a smile on my face! I am not smiling so much looking at this video. My hooping skills have improved a bit, but that menopot has got to go! After my hoop session, I walked 3/4 mile to the bus stop. I was planning on attending the 10:00 a.m. Mass at the Grotto, but it was cutting it close. Plus, I was feeling the need for a Starbucks iced tea.  Today was Iced Passionfruit/Black Tea, no sugar whatsoever.   The ic...

Year Two, Day 274: I Like Me. RIP Packy!

Today's fruit of the spirit that I am focusing on is patience.  This I need more of. And coincidentally (or not), I read in my book Challenge: A Daily Meditation Program Based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius by Mark Link, S.J. the following: "I asked God to give me happiness, and God said, 'No.' He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation. It isn't granted, it is earned." Well, not to sound smug, but I am certainly earning my patience award!  :) I am having a good day, however I am a bit over caffeinated. I earned (patiently lol) a free latte today at Starbucks.  On a side note, I love being a regular customer. I walked into my regular Starbucks today, and one of the barista's yelled, "Zita!" from across the room. I felt like I was in an episode of "Cheers"! I love being recognized in a friendly manner. I had a venti "Smoked Butterscotch Latte with soy".   I have found the per...

Year Two, Day 201: "I"

Before my first meeting with "I" I had a wonderful first date last night! We had a lot on common. The conversation flowed easily. We laughed. It was so lovely, that I think I shall not blog about him. Not yet anyway. I am just going to call him "I". I like I. 😉 Today was a long, wonderful family day. Went to church with my daughter and son-in-law. Very powerful, uplifting service. After that we went to the horse races. Had a blast. Broke even. Essentially had a free lunch and four hours of entertainment. After the horses, we had yet another Thanksgiving dinner at my niece's place. It was her first turkey. It was amazing! But thank God I had enough willpower to resist the pie! Tomorrow I go for my first physical therapy appointment. Tuesday it is back to the gym!! Happy Sunday!
