Year Four, Day 277: Pandemic Times, Day 26 - "Stay Home, Stay Safe", Day 14: Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Hello Friends!
Day 14 today. And I am here to talk about it!
We are on the home stretch - so they say. This week the cases of coronavirus in the US are supposed to peak. So the numbers will get alarmingly high, but then they should start to drop.
I sure hope so, because the weather is getting warmer and I think the natives are getting restless. On my daily walk through the park, I was surprised to see quite a few people. Not wearing masks. Sure, there were folks like me that were being good citizens: Walking their dogs, riding their bikes. All moving through the park.
But then there was also a group of middle school aged kids playing basketball, and some elementary school kids running around. None of them practicing social distancing.
But I am not the pandemic police. Just a concerned citizen.
The cases here in Washington are up to 8,824. There have been 381 deaths. These numbers are up about 11% from yesterday. What will it take for people to be more cautious? When will we ever learn?
Of course, I am reminded of a song: "Where Have All the Flowers Gone"?
Another good pandemic song.
I am wondering what will happen now. The weather is getting warmer. Governor Inslee has cancelled school for the rest of the school year. Most students will be studying online. But with the sunshine beckoning, it will be hard for parents to keep them inside. And it is natural for them to want to play with their friends.
I hope and pray we see an end to this pandemic soon. But I, for one do still have so much to learn!
On that note, my ukulele is calling me.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Blessings of peace and good health to you and your families.
Love,
Zita
