Year Four, Day 281: Pandemic Times Day 30, "Stay Home - Stay Safe" Day 18: Good Friday

Psalm 71: 17-18 (NKJV)

"O God, You have taught me from my youth;

And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
18
Now also when I am old and grayheaded,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come."

Good Evening Friends:

Today, according to the Christian faith is Good Friday. It is the day Jesus was crucified.

Before he gave up his life, he said, "It is finished".

"He did not say, "I am finished," for that would imply that he died defeated and exhausted. Rather, he cried out "It is finished," meaning "I successfully completed the work I came to do."

It is 9:41 pm Friday night. I spent many hours today babysitting my granddaughter while her parents did a photo shoot. My soninlaw has been laid off from his church job and my daughter is working from home. So when they get photography clients, they jump at the opportunity. The shoot outside, practicing proper social distancing, of course.  They like to shoot near dusk, because the lighting is mire flattering then.

This is probably why time is flying. Spending time with my 2 year-old granddaughter is precious, but exhausting. I have to be focused and present.

But tomorrow I have the day "off". My daughter and I are taking some homemade waffles and flowers over to my parents for an early Easter present in the morning. My mom has a present for my granddaughter - they wave at each other and blow kisses through the closed car window. We can't take any chances. My parents are at a vulnerable age and my father has Parkinson's disease and cancer.

But it will be nice to leave the house and see them. We usually place a bag full of our sufferings for them on their vehicle before my mom comes out.

When times get tough, we humans do get creative!

I am so looking forward to some me time. Can you believe I just typed that? But I feel the need for several hours of not being accountable to anyone. I have no students scheduled tomorrow.

My piano and I need to spend some serious time together!

I will probably also take a day off from cooking, aside from my usual morning chaffles. Once I get started in the kitchen, there's no stopping me!

I have decided to get back on track with intermittent fasting and also cut back on carbs again. I am feeling most sluggish. I don't want to emerge from isolation with a "pandemic 15", if that us a thing.

And I need to step up the exercise. And get to bed earlier.

So on that note, good night!

I'm hoping the virus peaks soon, but I am afraid that will be the tip of the iceberg. We can't just dive back into our former lives for risk of reinvention.

Here are today's stats as of 9:34 p.m. We shall see what tomorrow holds.

Total Confirmed Cases Globally
1,702,662

Total Deaths Globally
102,961

Total Confirmed Cases United States
502,876

Total Deaths United States
18,747

Please join me in praying for the whole world.

And now I am really signing off!

Talk to you tomorrow.

Be blessed.

Love,

Zita

Year Three, Day 58: Marilyn Monroe's Measurements

Day 24 of daily hooping. I am determined to shrink these abs, if it is the last thing I do! Perhaps I should have that written on my tombstone: "Here lies Zita". Flat abs at last!! Well I certainly hope to attain my flat abs goal BEFORE I am dead and gone! Today's video was another rush job. But I downloaded some fun tunes to my Kindle last night.  I enjoyed my hoop session more listening to the Punjabi music. It reminded me of the "Maritime Bhangra Dancers".  If you haven't heard of them, you should look them up. They never fail to put a smile on my face! I am not smiling so much looking at this video. My hooping skills have improved a bit, but that menopot has got to go! After my hoop session, I walked 3/4 mile to the bus stop. I was planning on attending the 10:00 a.m. Mass at the Grotto, but it was cutting it close. Plus, I was feeling the need for a Starbucks iced tea.  Today was Iced Passionfruit/Black Tea, no sugar whatsoever.   The ic...

Year Two, Day 274: I Like Me. RIP Packy!

Today's fruit of the spirit that I am focusing on is patience.  This I need more of. And coincidentally (or not), I read in my book Challenge: A Daily Meditation Program Based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius by Mark Link, S.J. the following: "I asked God to give me happiness, and God said, 'No.' He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation. It isn't granted, it is earned." Well, not to sound smug, but I am certainly earning my patience award!  :) I am having a good day, however I am a bit over caffeinated. I earned (patiently lol) a free latte today at Starbucks.  On a side note, I love being a regular customer. I walked into my regular Starbucks today, and one of the barista's yelled, "Zita!" from across the room. I felt like I was in an episode of "Cheers"! I love being recognized in a friendly manner. I had a venti "Smoked Butterscotch Latte with soy".   I have found the per...

Year Two, Day 201: "I"

Before my first meeting with "I" I had a wonderful first date last night! We had a lot on common. The conversation flowed easily. We laughed. It was so lovely, that I think I shall not blog about him. Not yet anyway. I am just going to call him "I". I like I. 😉 Today was a long, wonderful family day. Went to church with my daughter and son-in-law. Very powerful, uplifting service. After that we went to the horse races. Had a blast. Broke even. Essentially had a free lunch and four hours of entertainment. After the horses, we had yet another Thanksgiving dinner at my niece's place. It was her first turkey. It was amazing! But thank God I had enough willpower to resist the pie! Tomorrow I go for my first physical therapy appointment. Tuesday it is back to the gym!! Happy Sunday!
